Based on Mel Brooks' cult classic movie ("My films rise below vulgarity", he once said), The Producers was a sensation in New York City, winning a record 12 Tony awards, taking no prisoners with its in-your-face humor and skewering of Broadway tradition.

Down-on-his-luck Broadway producer Max Bialystock and mild-mannered accountant Leo Bloom come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. The plan is flawless, from finding the worst script possible (the wildly offensive "Springtime for Hitler") to assembling the most ill-fitting creative team. Only one thing goes awry: the show is an unexpected smash hit! .
